THIS TIME ROUND: CAN OF WORMS? 1/1 by Paul Gadzikowski DOCTOR WHO series characters and concepts copyright BBC tv "This Time Round" concept by Tyler Dion The Doctor entered and walked up to the bar. Polly came to take his order. "I thought the fool fellow was the bartender," said the Doctor. "Hey - continuity doesn't matter here, remember?" said Polly. "Besides, she's better at it than I am!" shouted Wil from a corner booth where he and K-9 were trying to invent rules to go with the STAR TREK 3-D chess board. "Of course," sniffed Polly. "I'm a professional." "Say, what's with this 'the fool fellow' stuff anyway?" said Wil. "After all we've been through, you act like we've never met?" "I'm the present author's Doctor," said the Doctor. "He doesn't use you. And he wasn't in the autumn round of IAs. I don't even know what you look like." "Oh. Well, he'll have to use me when his chapter of the HIA comes up." Wil turned back to what K-9 couldn't stop his referring to as the cheeseboard. The Doctor sat at the bar between a passed-out Benny (whom he also didn't recognize) and Jeri Massi's Doctor (still in his third incarnation even after the events of the TVM), and asked Polly, "So - what *is* your surname?" Polly was distracted from whatever she might have answered when a couple entered the bar. "Hey! You people have your own place! Tyler said so in his original post!" "Ah - ah - ah!" The man pulled from under his red cape, and handed to Polly, a computer printout. "Oh, all right." Polly glared at the Doctor as the couple took an empty table. "Your chap stops at nothing, does he? Bad enough he lets the STAR TREK people in here all the time." She dropped the printout in a puddle of beer on the bar in front of the Doctor. It was a work in progress, and the first line read, "ONE CHILD BORN 1/? DOCTOR WHO/LOIS & CLARK crossover". "Self-referentiality's a bit thick in here tonight," Polly groused. "Wait'll you see what he's writing for the 35th anniversary," said the Doctor smugly. "So - what's this TimeWar thing I hear about?" |
