But when Mel arrived, she wasn't surprised to see that Zoe was waiting for the London train. "Are you going to attend Bill Gates's speech as well?" Zoe asked. "Of course. He's going to talk about the new features in the next version of Windows! It'll be great!" She looked down. "But, um, why have you got that big hamper with you?" Zoe gazed at her levelly, as if Mel had just asked why the sky was blue. "How else," she replied, "am I supposed to bring the custard pies?"
